The syllabus details this assignment as:
Theoretical Lens Case Comparison Paper: Due WK 10. This is an 6–8-page paper, excluding cover page and references. Please cite a minimum of 6 sources: at least 4 of which can be from the readings from the course. Spend some time researching in Journals or in literature related to the Art Therapy field. Include at least 2 outside references in this paper. There will be an in-class consultation regarding your paper during week 6 of class.
Please choose a mock case example from the list in Populi or develop your own case (with prior instructor approval). Choose two different theoretical frameworks in art therapy that we have discussed in class as the basis for your exploration of this case.
For each theoretical framework you will:
Briefly discuss the origin of the theories selected and how art is utilized in each.
Present the case through the lens of each respective theory and discuss how you would use each art therapy approach with this client. Be specific and provide the theoretical rationale for why each theory is appropriate; what materials/interventions/directives you would use and why.
How does each framework allow for a culturally responsive approach in treatment?
What is the role of the therapist in each model? Please discuss the ways in which the art process and product are viewed, understood, interpreted, and discussed by the therapist.
Provide a thoughtful conclusion that includes an overview of your theoretical comparison, a personal reflection, and an art response to this paper. Art responses will be presented in the last day of class.
