Ask a Librarian: ASK A LIBRARIAN

Larry Harkcom
LIBRARY DIRECTOR
(he/him)
larryharkcom@swc.edu

I've been the director of Quimby Memorial Library since December, 2020. Prior to taking on that role, I was Distance Education Librarian and IT Associate at Southwestern College. In 2018 I obtained a Master's degree in Library Science from Clarion University, where my concentrations included research methodology, information literacy, and digital resource management. My primary goal as a librarian at QML is to help facilitate meaningful discovery, by maintaining access to resources, which are scientifically and inclusively sourced.
I'm passionate about reference work and research assistance. In addition to offering my assistance in locating and discerning the validity of literature on whatever topic, I'm available to address questions (via email, phone, zoom, or in person) about the research processconsult about alternative formats and methods to enhance reading comprehension; and help with APA formatting and citation.
I mostly work remotely, managing digital resources and databases. Please email me as well if you are experiencing any issues accessing ebooks on EBSCOhost, articles on Taylor & Francis Online, or videos on swc.kanopy.com.
