GENERAL INFORMATION

Where are you located?

Our address is 3960 San Felipe Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507. We are the second building on the campus of Southwestern College, located immediately behind the main building.

When are you open – what are your hours?

Our regular hours are 9AM – 5PM Monday through Friday. However, the doors close for lunch between 1:30PM – 2:30PM as well as for any major holidays.

If you are not able to come in during these times, let us know at askthelibrary@swc.edu or give us a call at 505-467-6825. We will do our best to ensure you can still access our items and services. Be sure to use our email over the weekends.

How do I become a member, and do I need a Library Card?

RESOURCE INFORMATION

What items and services does QML offer?

Primarily, we offer access to physical books, ebooks through EBSCOhost, video streaming through Kanopy and Psychotherapy.net, and academic articles through our database Taylor & FrancisWe have also partnered up with Brainfuse, where you can submit papers for proofreading, grammar, and formatting assistance.

We can gain access to books and journal articles outside our current holdings by reaching out to other academic institutions through Interlibrary Loan. Your librarians are also a great resource, so if you aren’t sure where to start, email us at askthelibrary@swc.edu.

Can I get my textbooks from QML?

Many of your textbooks will be available at no extra charge as ebooks through EBSCOhost. However not all required books are available on this platform. While we want to provide as much as possible through the library, we simply cannot provide everything for every student. We understand that textbooks can be very expensive, so please reach out to us if you have additional questions or concerns at askthelibrary@swc.edu.

We also strive to have at least one physical copy of all required textbooks – and sometimes we even have several copies of a given title. Our Reserve Shelf is designed so that these books can be checked out over the weekend by local students or otherwise made readily available for Library Staff to make digital scans for our distance students. (Limited to one chapter or 10% of any resource.) Any extra copies of textbooks remain in the Main Collection and can be checked out and renewed normally.

How long can I keep rented items, and how can I renew them?

IF YOU ARE STUDENT/STAFF/FACULTY: All library resources will check out for three weeks at a time with the option to renew up to three times so long as another library patron doesn’t place it on hold. You can check out up to fifteen items total. To renew, click on the ‘Library’ tab in the top menu on Populi. Then from the library’s menu, click on ‘My Profile’. This will display all items you currently have checked out and their respective due dates. So long as you have renewals left available, a ‘Renew’ button should appear immediately to the right of each due date.

IF YOU ARE A COMMUNITY MEMBER: All library resources will check out for three weeks at a time with the option to renew up to two times so long as another library patron doesn’t place it on hold. You can check out up to ten items total. Email us at the library using askthelibrary@swc.edu with your name and the information about the item you have checked out you wish to renew. Be sure to contact us early in case an item you want to keep longer has been requested by another patron – these items cannot be renewed and you will be responsible for any late charges, accruing at $0.25 per day per item.

Keep in mind that the new due date is generated three weeks out from the date of renewal – it does not add on to the original due date.

Why doesn’t QML have _________?

Our first priority at QML is to secure access to timely and relevant material that will benefit the academic success of the students here at Southwestern College. This necessitates that the vast majority of our holdings will focus on Counseling or Art Therapy. However, we are always open to new suggestions – whether they neatly fall under one of those main categories or not.

Please contact us at askthelibrary@swc.edu or give us a call at 505-467-6825 with information on the resource you are looking for. If we don’t purchase a copy for our own collection, we can still request an Interlibrary Loan.
